The annual Cup Match Classic at Somerset Cricket Club has been delayed by three hours due to adverse weather conditions that have hampered final preparations at the grounds.
Management of Somerset Cricket Club has confirmed that the opening day’s play, originally scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., will now get underway at 1:00 p.m. The delay follows two days of heavy rain and strong winds, which prevented crews from completing essential work on the venue, including canvassing on the upper level.
Despite the delayed start, the grounds will open to the public at 6:00 a.m., allowing spectators to enter as planned while workers complete the remaining preparations ahead of the first ball.
Club officials are urging the public to be aware of the revised schedule and to plan accordingly. They remain optimistic that all outstanding work will be completed this morning, ensuring the annual cricket classic can begin safely at 1:00 p.m.
Somerset Cricket Club thanks the public for its patience and understanding and looks forward to welcoming fans for another exciting edition of the Cup Match Classic.
