With warmer weather nearing on the horizon and, with it, carnival season, NOVA Mas conducted its official costume and Season Six Launch Party over the weekend for season Replete with much of the festive pageantry of sound, movement and colourful sexiness affiliated with the celebratory genre, which is often termed as a modern equivalent of the bacchanalia festivals of ancient Rome, but which date much further back to Africa, Saturday’s exposé provided a mouthwatering glimpse into what is to come.
Employing models that fit in the style and mode of the NOVA Mas brand, presented in the midst of stunning beats of rhythm nation and live vibrations, were the company’s costume offerings for 2023.
Seldon Wooridge, one of the organisation’s leaders, promised delivery of events sure to satisfy the celebratory pallet.
“NOVA in addition to playing mas on the roads, we do have our ‘Swizzle at Sunrise’ events, which are an exciting part of what we do,” he said of the J’ouvert-styled festivals, with origins in Trinidad, which, traditionally have revellers cover their bodies in coloured paints, mud, pitch oil, dress as blue or red devils to dance the streets as an expression of liberation from the constraints of the past and in celebration of the ancestors who have gone before them.

Woolridge told how NOVA Mas has linked with Grotto Bay Hotel to provide special hotel packages for international visitors and those wanting to stay at the easy end property during carnival time, with the packages to be presented this week.
Also, Thursday will see NOVA Mas and Goslings partnering for a happy hour, which will also serve as a time for the company to present price lists for costumes and commence on-line registration at the company website www.novamasintl.com.
