Continuing the legacy of Parish Pride

Let us first give condolences to the families of Mrs. Geraldine York of Devon Spring Road and Mr. Stephen Decosta of Lamas Drive. Mr. Decosta, a devoted family man, was a skilled carpenter who always supported the efforts of keeping our parish and island in order.

So, on that note let me apologise for the state of some areas with the cane grass over the last few weeks. Losing loved ones has taken an unspeakable and life changing toll on us over the last 2 months.

Yet, we must still rise.

The young, and not so young men, have gathered themselves and committed to continue the legacy of taking care of our community. Over the last week they have cleared a rain drain on McGall’s Hill and cut back trees and cane grass in the following areas:

Devon Spring lane
Devon Spring Road
South Shore Road by the Party Shop
Green Acres Estate

In addition we have had assistance from Focus Counselling Services who have volunteered time and manpower to put two coats of fresh paint on the interiors of the following Bus Stops:

Below the Cable and Wireless facility
Collector’s Hill
Across from the Squash Club on Middle Road

We thank them for getting these ready in time for our school children to use this week.

A few new young people are looking to learn about landscaping. As such, they are in need of a few small tools to get the various jobs done. If anyone has used tools such as; weed whackers, blowers, hoes or rakes, that they are no longer in need of we would welcome the donations.

Also, if you need any small jobs such as lawn cutting or wall painting please feel free to reach me directly via Whatsapp 599-0901.
