Congratulations To Bermuda’s Carifta Team Says Minister Peets

The Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, Dr. Ernest Peets congratulated Bermuda’s Carifta Team, who have won several medals at the 2022 Games.

As the public is aware the 2022 Carifta Games have been taking place in Jamaica and Barbados these past few days, with Bermudian athletes delivering outstanding performances on the track and in the pool.

In support of the team, Minister Peets attended the games in Jamaica and expressed his delight at watching our athletes represent Bermuda with excellence and pride.

Minister Peets said, “Our track athletes have so much to be proud of. As all of Bermuda has seen, we’ve picked up several medals including a bronze in the U-20 girls 400m with Caitlyn Bobb. And on the last day of competition, our relay team claimed two medals in the 4×400 relays, with the U-17 team achieving a silver medal, and the U-20 team winning a bronze medal. We also picked up more medals in the pool in Barbados yesterday.

“It was such a joy to wave the Bermuda flag and cheer on our outstanding athletes. They have demonstrated true sports excellence and we are incredibly proud of their success.”

Minister Peets hopes to personally meet with the track and field and swimming medalists upon their return to the island.
