Conflicting Reports On Exit From Cabinet By National Security Minister

Ming Resigns from National Security Ministry A statement released by the Cabinet Office this evening with reported that Premier the Honorable David Burt, JP, MP, had asked the Governor H.E. Rena Lalgie for the Honorable Rene Ming’s National Security Ministry to be revoked.

In an exclusive interview with TNN moments after that information was reported, the now-former Minister Ming set the record straight, that she resigned from her Ministry on her own accord and Premier Burt reluctantly understood and accepted that resignation. Her resignation is effective as of today (March 30).

“ I don’t understand why Premier Burt would say the Ministry was revoked, when I clearly let him know that I would be resigning,” she explained.

“ There were many reasons why I decided it was best for me to resign from the Cabinet.”

The former Minister believes that being in any Cabinet would be challenging given the unprecedented times we are in, but has decided to do what she believes is best for her.

“ I will continue to work hard [for my constituents and the people of Bermuda], because St. George’s is my passion,” she said.

Ms. Ming handed her resignation letter in at 5:30 this evening.
