COH takes Action to Alleviate Traffic Congestion Amid Ongoing Works

The City of Hamilton is acutely aware of the frustrations faced by motorists due to traffic delays stemming from significant ongoing works within the city. We understand the impact these disruptions have on daily commutes, and we are committed to taking immediate steps to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow.

In response to these challenges, we have deployed Traffic Wardens as well as our Parking Enforcement Officers to better manage traffic during peak hours. Starting this afternoon, they will be providing dedicated support during the morning and evening rush hours to ensure smoother traffic movement throughout the city.

Several important projects are currently underway, including the Spurling Hill project, which is progressing ahead of schedule. We are pleased to announce that all major works for this project – including sidewalk construction – will be completed in the coming week, a full week ahead of the planned schedule. At that time, traffic will be able to access all lanes as normal.

A City spokeswoman emphasized the importance of public cooperation during this period, stating, “We ask for the public’s patience as we carry out these works, which are ahead of schedule and necessary for the long-term benefit of our City.”

We thank the public for their understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance the City’s infrastructure and overall City experience.
