The City of Hamilton today provided a progress update regarding the road paving works taking place along Front Street.
The City can report that crews are making good progress and should be finished the Front Street section by the end of day tomorrow (Friday, May 20th, 2022). The intention is to then, at that point, open up the driving lane to traffic as soon as the asphalt has sufficiently hardened. However, the parking lane will be closed all weekend to allow the asphalt to cure enough to be able to handle turning maneuvers.
Painting of the parking bay markings will take place the following weekend, to allow the asphalt to properly cure.
When crews have completed the Front Street paving works, they will begin road paving at Albuoy’s Point on Monday (May 23rd 2022), at which point there will be no parking permitted in the Albuoy’s Point area but access will remain open to local businesses. This means that in order to gain access to the area, vehicles can both enter and exit at the road opening opposite Par-la-Ville Street. However, this will be for access only.
The City apologizes for any inconvenience caused to commuters and asks for the public’s patience as we seek to improve our City’s roadways and sidewalks.
