This week, the City of Hamilton presented a donation of $1500to the Coalition for the Protection of Children (CPC) in commemoration of International Women’s Day.
City CEO Dwayne Caines expressed his gratitude towards the CPC for all they do in Bermuda stating, “As we prepare to celebrate International Women’s Day, we aim not only to honor the achievements of women around the globe but also to make a meaningful impact in our community. The CPC, chosen as the recipient of the donation by the women of the City of Hamilton, plays a vital role in supporting women in need within the community. Our intention is for this contribution to further the invaluable work the organization does for women in Bermuda.”
The cheque presentation ceremony took place on the steps of City Hall on Wednesday, where the women of the City of Hamilton assembled to commemorate the occasion with a photograph ahead of International Women’s Day.
Mr. Caines highlighted the diverse representation of women across various departments within the City, illustrating the organization’s dedication to gender equality and empowerment.
“The City of Hamilton remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower women and enhance community well-being,” said Mr. Caines. “The collaboration with the CPC reflects the alignment of values and goals with the spirit of International Women’s Day.”
CPC Executive Director Kelly Hunt conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the donation, emphasizing the critical role the organization plays in aiding struggling mothers.
“We are profoundly thankful to the women of the Corporation of Hamilton for their unwavering support,” Ms Hunt expressed. “Being selected as the recipient of this donation is truly an honor. Following the challenges presented by COVID-19, we have witnessed an increase in the number of women seeking our assistance. The hardship support we offer makes a tangible difference in people’s lives. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Corporation for their generosity.”
