TNN has reached out to police and the Animal Wardens for information on an alleged dog attack which left an infant child in need of medical attention.
We’re told the incident occurred at a Warwick residence last Sunday, when the child was at home and was bitten in the head by the family’s pit bull dog.
The child was taken to hospital for treatment and the dog was said to have been seized by the Animal Wardens who along with police went to the scene.
Meanwhile, TNN understands there was another situation where a person was bitten by a pit bull last Friday on Roberts Avenue in Devonshire.
According to a resident who spoke with us, the woman had stopped at a house in the area to speak with one of the occupants, when she was attacked by the dog which is kept at that residence.
The Bermuda Police Service responded to TNN queries with this statement below:
“Around 2:20pm Sunday, 10th November 2024, police officers were dispatched to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, regarding a report of a child injured by a dog.
Apparently a 2-year-old child was at a Warwick home, playing with the family dog, when the dog bit the child’s head.
The child was treated for their injuries at the hospital.
Attending police officers and an Animal Warden conducted initial inquiries, with the Animal Warden later seizing the dog.”
