Premier Burt was asked during this evening’s press conference by TNN’s Trevor Lindsay if he fears that his Premiership position might be revoked due to increasing criticism of his leadership from within the community and within the Progressive Labor Party, Premier the Honorable David Burt had this to say in response:
“ I will never expect that 100 percent of the population will support me to remain in this office, as 100 percent of the people did not vote for me and/or the Progressive Labour party. That is the nature of democracy.
Leadership is difficult and we must make tough choices, but we were elected on an election manifesto of strong leadership and I think that our performance has demonstrated that we are able to make the tough and difficult decisions which are necessary to ensure that our country can move beyond this pandemic.
That is what we’ve certainly committed to do and that’s what we will continue to do as we lead this country, which is necessary and which the vast majority of the people want us to do.”
After the press conference had concluded, TNN’s Trevor Lindsay attempted to approach Premier Burt to get a brief interview.
Premier Burt was willing to talk with TNN, but not willing to have his response recorded.
