BUEI’s Kids Hour Saturday March 15th to Feature Barracudas

Get ready for a thrilling underwater adventure with a spotlight on the fascinating and powerful barracuda!

The next Kids Hour Saturday at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) is scheduled for March 15th and will feature this sleek and speedy fish that can swim up to 40 kilometers per hour.

Kids Hour Saturdays, sponsored by BF&M, run through September at 11am and 2pm on the third Saturday of the month.

Featuring a different marine creature each month, Kids Hour includes an entertaining short film, engaging book reading and fun activities for children ages 3 years and up.

Barracudas are so intriguing that we will be showing two films this month! ‘Barracudas:

Fascinating Marine Predators’ and ‘Blue Wilderness: How Dangerous Are Barracudas?’ will educate viewers on these fascinating fish and the conservation efforts being made to protect them.

‘Fish Tales: Battle of the Barracuda’ by Bermuda resident Debbie Jones and Bermudian illustrator, Jodie Tucker, is this month’s book. Inspired by one of Bermuda’s largest coral reefs, North Rock, it tells the story of a peaceful community of sea creatures being disrupted.

In this sequel to the original ‘Fish Tales’, two little wrasse mobilise their reef community to fight off two barracuda predators. Who do you think wins the battle over the beloved reef? Join us at Kids Hour to find out!

The event is free for BUEI members and $5 per child for non-members, and includes admission to the Ocean Discovery Centre for more fun throughout the day. Please note, parents and caregivers must stay on site to supervise their children during Kids Hour Saturdays.

Space is limited and advanced registration is encouraged by emailing calling 294-0204 or email giftshop@buei.bm. You can also visit BUEI.org/events for a full list of 2025 Kids Hour Saturdays dates and topic.
