BUEI Films Celebrates Earth Day With Common Ground A Story Of The Soil Beneath Our Feet

In celebration of Earth Day, ‘Films at BUEI’ is hosting an exclusive event featuring the local premier of ‘Common Ground’, an award-winning 2023 documentary that exposes the systemic issues of a broken food system and provides hope for restoration.

The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) invites you to join us at 6:30pm on Tuesday April 22nd for this groundbreaking film, which includes opening remarks by Mr. Greg Wilson from Food Forest Bermuda.

BUEI is elated to have Mr. Wilson open the event by sharing his expertise on sustainable agriculture and providing insights on how local initiatives are contributing to global environmental solutions. The evening will conclude with a special thirteen minute pre- recorded Q&A with filmmakers.

Common Ground is narrated by Hollywood actors Jason Momoa and Woody Harrelson, amongst other celebrity activists, and explores how many of humankind’s problems connect to the state of the world’s soil. This riveting documentary fuses journalistic exposé with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement, unveiling a dark web of money, power, and politics behind a broken food system.

The film, rated PG, has a run time of 1 hour 45 minutes and reveals how unjust practices forged the current farm system in which farmers of all colors are literally dying to feed us. It profiles a hopeful and uplifting movement of white, black, and indigenous farmers who are using alternative “regenerative” models of agriculture that could balance the climate, save our health, and stabilize the economy — before it’s too late.
