Brown-Darrell Clinic Scanners to Provide Temporary Backup for Hospital

Word coming to TNN suggesting that both of the CT Scanners at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) are experiencing technical difficulties and are down. We also understand that some technical staff have reached out to Dr. Ewart Brown for assistance. We received a comment from Dr. Brown.

“ We did receive notice that the hospital was having technical difficulties today,” he said. “ Without hesitation, we offered to help. We placed our technologist on 24/7 call [the Brown-Darrell Clinic] will provide backup to the hospital until we are no longer needed.”

Dr. Brown thinks that it will take a week at the most for the equipment to start working again and even though it is a rare occurrence for equipment like that to shut down, it does happen sometimes.

“ The equipment that is used is very sensitive, so we expect that there will be interruptions sometimes in the service,” he said. “ We want people to realize how important it is in a small island community to have backup.”
