British national charged with assault, obstruction and resisting arrest

A British, male national appeared in Magistrates Court today, where he was charged with three offences, including an alleged assault against a police officer.

Among the charges Donald Lampson denied were that of an August 5, 2023 assault on Detective Constable Tait while the latter was acting in execution of his duty, a single charge of obstruction of PC Brown on the same date, as well as resisting arrest, with all acts purported to have occurred in Pembroke Parish.

The prosecution opposed bail for the defendant, further alleging that the 34-year-old had travelled to Bermuda using a fake passport, had no known address in Bermuda and had supplied three false names to authorities during questioning by police.

Bail was denied by Magistrate Maxine Anderson and the case adjourned, with the man remanded into custody at Westgate Correctional Facility until the date of his next appearance.

It was further stated that more charges were imminent against the man, with those implied to likely be of the drug offence variety.
