BREAKING NEWS: Inmate Hospitalized Following Prison Altercation

TNN News understands that an inmate is in hospital today following an altercation during a routine search of his prison cell.

According to reliable sources, officers discovered a cell phone device in the inmate’s possession. During the raid, the inmate reportedly attacked a Principal Officer (PO). In the course of defending himself, the officer subdued the inmate, who sustained serious lacerations to his mouth and lost several teeth as a result of the incident.

The inmate in question is well known to police and the community and is currently serving a lengthy sentence for gun-related offenses.

TNN further understands that this individual may now face additional disciplinary action before the Treatment of Offenders Board, which could result in loss of remission time, or even the possibility of new charges for assaulting a Principal Prison Officer.

While TNN awaits an official statement, it should be noted that responsibility for Bermuda’s Department of Corrections no longer falls under the Ministry of National Security but under the Attorney General’s office.

A response from the Attorney General is anticipated regarding this serious matter.

This is a developing story.
