TNN is receiving reports of a downed power line on South Shore Road this evening, creating a significant disruption during peak rush hour traffic.
The incident occurred between the Warwick gas station on South Shore Road and the Lit Restaurant, just by Dunscombe Road. Early indications suggest that a large vehicle—either a tractor or a heavy-duty truck—struck overhead wires, bringing them down across the roadway.
As a result, traffic in the area has come to a near standstill, with emergency services working quickly to assess the damage and secure the scene.
Motorists traveling along South Shore Road are being urged to avoid the area and instead use alternate routes, including Middle Road or Harbour Road. Those who must travel through the affected area are advised to exercise extreme caution.
At this time, there are no confirmed injuries, and necessary line crews have been notified and are en route to begin restoration and ensure the area is safe.
TNN will continue to monitor this developing situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
