BREAKING NEWS: The Bermuda Police Service will soon have a new Commissioner following the immediate resignation today, of current Commissioner Stephen Corbshley.
TNN was told by BPS sources the service was informed via an email sent out by Mr. Corbshley himself the statement posted below
Dear Colleagues
I write to share the difficult decision that I have taken to leave my role as Commissioner of the BPS today.
Whilst this has not been a decision I have made lightly, I am keen to see my family more and pursue new career opportunities. My departure is with immediate effect and the Governor will be making an acting appointment until a new Commissioner is appointed.
The past 3 plus years in the BPS have been fantastic. Collectively we have achieved many things, been through many challenges and above all served the public, protected victims, and kept Bermuda safe.
Whilst you may not be aware, the BPS is looked at as a center of excellence across the overseas territory police services. You have achieved that, and I am very proud to have been part of that journey.
Thank you to all who have supported me in my role as Commissioner. Those who have worked close to me will have seen I have lived and breathed the BPS since 2018 and I have genuinely cared about the public we serve and you as the team that delivers.
I have many memories that will remain, and I am proud to have featured in the BPS’ 142 years of existence.
Steve Corbishley
Commissioner of Police
