A boat fire today in the St. George’s Harbor causing black smoke seen miles away.
Acting Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) Sergeant Gavin Carter said a Call was received via 911 at 1:42pm of a boat on fire at Dowling’s Marina in St. George.
The Boat was towed to Marginal Wharf where it was extinguished by the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service using a turret monitor at 2:39pm at which time the vessel sunk.
A total of 10 Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel and 5 vehicles from the Clearwater and Hamilton Stations were in attendance.
An investigation is currently underway and no more information will be released at this time.
