The Ministry of Economy and Labour is excited to announce that the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is now accepting applications for the 2024 Graduate Apprenticeship Programme.
Formerly known as the Graduate Trainee Programme, the updated name better reflects the programme’s core mission. While the title has changed, the programme’s successful structure remains intact. Over its previous four cohorts, the initiative has helped 42 recent college and university graduates transition from academic study to real-world work environments. Participants gain hands-on experience, develop valuable skills, build professional networks, and advance their careers.
Upon completion, participants will engage in a 10-week work placement sponsored by the DWD to facilitate a seamless entry into their chosen profession.
Commenting on the programme, Minister of Labour, the Honourable Jason Hayward, JP, MP, said, “The Government remains deeply committed to Bermuda’s Economic Development Strategy, particularly with Strategic Priority No. 5, ‘People,’ which focuses on youth empowerment. The Graduate Apprenticeship Programme is vital to bridging the gap between education and employment for young Bermudians. By supporting their transition from the classroom to the workplace, we are addressing unemployment and investing in Bermuda’s future leaders. The programme’s success speaks to our dedication to nurturing local talent and ensuring every young Bermudian has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to our nation’s growth.”
Recent graduates who are currently unemployed are encouraged to apply for the Graduate Apprenticeship Programme through the Department of Workforce Development online at https://dwd.bm/youth-employment%20-strategy/. The application deadline is Tuesday, 1 October 2024.
