The US National Hurricane Center will be classifying the small disturbance to Bermuda’s northeast as a Tropical Depression at midnight.
The Depression will continue to drift southward, moving east of Bermuda tonight and then turn close to the south of the island over the next 48 hours.
Accordingly, BWS will issue a Tropical Storm Watch at the 11:30PM forecast tonight, to be consistent with the first NHC advisory and Tropical Update Bulletin, scheduled for 12 midnight. More detail (track forecast, intensity, etc.) will follow at that time.
Expect inclement weather with heavy downpours possible in fringing rainbands if they move across the island. Local winds may increase to 20 knots from tomorrow, especially in the southern Marine Area as this system passes nearby to the south.
