This Sunday, Bermuda’s waters will come alive with speed, spectacle, and star power as the Bermuda Powerboat Association (BPBA) hosts its first-ever Celebrity Charity Boat Race, an event that promises high-octane excitement and family fun—all for a worthy cause.
We spoke with Janae Nesbitt , Commodore of the Bermuda Powerboat Association, who shared the inspiration behind the event and what the public can expect from this landmark occasion.
“This Sunday we’re doing something different,” said Commodore Nesbitt . “It’s the first time we’ve ever done anything like this. One of our committee members, who is also one of the founding members of the Give Back initiative, came to me and said, ‘Let’s do a celebrity race. Let’s try something new to engage the community and raise funds for our Junior Program.’ And I thought it was a great idea.”
The BPA Celebrity Charity Race will be held at Cross Island in Dockyard and will coincide with the National Championship Race 3, making it a full day of elite racing, community celebration, and charity.
Gates open at 10 a.m., with festivities kicking off as early as 11 a.m. The day’s lineup includes:
- RSE inshore boat races in the South Camber at 11 a.m.

A Sunday Morning Spectacle
Before the races begin, the public is encouraged to catch the Sunday Morning Spectacle, a unique parade of boats that will depart East Broadway on Front Street at 9:30 a.m. Led by international superstar boats S-12 and S-25, the flotilla will cruise down South Shore Road to Barnes Corner, and onward to Dockyard. “It’s a chance for people to see these incredible machines in motion and cheer them on as they head to race,” said Nesbitt.
