Bermuda Premier League starts Wednesday

Bermuda’s version of T20 franchise cricket, the Bermuda Premier League (BPL) begins Wednesday at White Hill Field.

The competition involves four teams, including the Bermuda senior men’s team, a Bermuda Select XI, Barbados and Grassroots Cricket Academy from Antigua and Barbuda.

The day’s opening encounter features Bermuda Select XI against Grassroots Cricket Academy, about the second match will see Bermuda playing against Barbados.

Bermuda will be captained by Delay Rawlin’s and coached by Naraj Odedra, while Clay Smith will instruct the Bermuda Select XI.

Former West Indies fast bowler Winston Benjamin is in charge of Grassroots Cricket Academy, while Wendell Coppin heads the Bajan contingent, that contains West Indies Test skipper Kraigg Braithwaite.

Wednesday schedule: Bermuda Select XI v Grassroots Cricket Academy, White Hill Field, 10 am; Bermuda v Barbados, White Hill Field, 2 pm.

Bermuda: Delray Rawlins, Justin Pitcher, Sinclair Smith, Derrick Brangman, Kamau Leverock, Tre Manders, Terryn Fray, Dominic Sabir, Zeko Burgess, Jabari Darrell, Malachi Jones, Cejay Outerbridge.
