Detective Chief Inspector Jason, Smith and Acting Chief Inspector, Mark Tomlinson, of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), are currently in Brazil where they are attending the “9th Americas Working Group meeting on Cybercrime”.
The officers addressed the gathering on measures and countermeasures implemented by the (BPS) to deal with cybercrime, which is a global concern.
The BPS works closely with our international partners to and prevent and detect, cybercrime through the sharing of information.
Most recently, the BPS played a significant role in the dismantling of an international gang of credit card fraudsters, after two of their members were arrested here on island.
Intelligence acquired from the suspects following those arrests has been instrumental in the furtherance of efforts to bring other members to justice.
