Bermuda is bracing for one of the coldest nights in its recorded history. According to the Bermuda Weather Service, temperatures are expected to drop to around 9°C (48°F) this evening — and with the wind chill, it will feel like we’re in the 30s. Anyone who lives here knows that Bermuda can truly get this cold, and with many homes lacking central heating, the chill can be especially harsh.
Historically, Bermuda’s coldest recorded temperature was 6°C (44°F), documented in February 1950. Tonight’s forecast brings us dangerously close to that record, making this an unusually frigid night for our island.
As temperatures fall, we encourage the community to look out for one another — especially those experiencing homelessness. If you encounter someone in need, please help guide them to a safe shelter. The Salvation Army shelter on Parsons Road is available as a refuge from the cold.
We also urge cyclists and motorbike riders to use extreme caution on the roads, as cold conditions can impact both visibility and reaction time. Bundle up, protect yourself, and do what you can to stay warm.
Bermuda, let’s take care of each other tonight. Stay safe and stay warm.
