This Wishlist has been sent to all political parties and independent candidates contesting the upcoming election, asking them to confirm which provisions they will commit to implementing if elected. Key reforms include:
• Establishing a Commission of Inquiry into historic injustices
• Modernizing outdated prison rules to focus on rehabilitation and restorative justice
• Reforming the Legal Aid system to ensure equitable access to justice
• Enacting legislation for wrongful conviction relief
• Strengthening police accountability through independent oversight
We are calling on the public to join us in advocating for these essential reforms. Justice reform should not depend on which political party is in power—it should be a shared priority for all Bermudians who care about fairness, accountability, and equality.
You can support this effort by sharing BEJI’s Wishlist with your candidates and asking them to confirm their commitments to justice reform before Election Day. Together, we can hold our leaders accountable and ensure that justice reform remains a top priority for the next Government.
BEJI looks forward to working collaboratively with the incoming Government and all members of the legislature to make these reforms a reality.
We have attached the full Wishlist so you can learn how you can take action.
Thank you for standing with us in the pursuit of a fairer, more just Bermuda.
