Bermuda defeat Cayman after early loss

Bermuda recorded its first win at the North American Cup on Wednesday, defeating host nation Cayman Islands by ten wickets at Jimmy Powell Oval in Bridge Town.

However, it took two bites at the apple to achieve success, with the Terryn Fray-led group losing the day’s first encounter.

After the tough morning loss, Bermuda stormed back, as Dominic Sabir smashed his maiden international fifty with an unbeaten 73, while Delray Rawlins blazed to 67 not out.

The duo chased down 144 in style, sealing victory with 20 balls to spare.

Cayman Islands had posted 143 for five at Jimmy Powell Oval, but Sabir and Rawlins’ unbeaten partnership made the chase look effortless.

It was a far cry from the first match, where Bermuda were dismissed for a sub-par 113, which Cayman successfully chased.

Bermuda have a day’s break before taking on Bahamas on Friday.
