Bermuda overcame a major hurdle when they defeated Canada by 86 runs in the opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup Regional Finals today at White Hill field today.

Kamau Leverock led the way for Bermuda, bludgeoning the Canadian attack for 83 runs, while taking one wicket and was named Man of the Match for his efforts.

Captain Delray Rawlins likewise playing a major role, scoring 66 from 38 balls.
Rawlins and Leverock ripped the heart out of Canada with a 97 run third wicket partnership, aiding Bermuda to an above par total.

Canada we’re in trouble from the very start of their innings, crumbling to 26 for four, before recovering somewhat, but never looked like matching Bermuda’s total.

Cejay Outerbridge led the Bermuda bowling attack with three for 18, while Rawlins, Zeko Burgess each grabbed a brace.

The result cast the home team in the driver’d seat in the quest for a learn spot at the 2024 ICC T20 Men’s World Cup to be hosted jointly by the United States and West Indies.

Sunday has Bermuda facing Panama at the west end, starting at 9.30 am.
