The Bermuda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Youth Department is gearing up for Global Youth Day 2025, a worldwide day of community service, to be held locally on March 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
This year’s theme, “A Community Transformed,” will guide young volunteers as they engage in projects aimed at spreading compassion and hope throughout the community. The purpose of the event is to empower youth to actively “be the sermon” – turning faith into action by serving others and making a positive impact in Bermuda.
Planned community service activities during the Global Youth Day outreach include:
• Senior Residential Home Outreach: Visiting and assisting seniors at local care homes, offering companionship and help with daily tasks.
• Free Grocery Giveaway (Kindley Field Strip): Providing essential food items to families in need, easing the burden on households facing economic challenges.
• Unhoused Charities Support: Distributing hygiene kits and other necessities to homeless individuals, in partnership with local charities and shelters. As well as preparing and serving a meal.
Through these efforts, organizers aim to address real needs in the community and embody the event’s theme by transforming lives through kindness. “A Community Transformed” is not just a slogan—it reflects the event’s goal of inspiring lasting, positive change in both the recipients and the youth volunteers.
This Bermuda initiative is part of the larger Global Youth Day movement taking place on the same day around the world. Global Youth Day (GYD) is an annual initiative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Youth Ministries, launched in 2013 to mobilize young people globally in acts of service.
On this day, millions of Adventist youth in countries worldwide simultaneously volunteer in their communities, living out the GYD motto to “Be the Sermon.” The Bermuda Conference Youth Department is proud to join this global effort, demonstrating how collective youth action can uplift communities and share hope beyond church walls.
Pastor Dwayne Caines, Youth Director of the Bermuda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and spokesperson for the event, highlights the significance of the initiative. “Global Youth Day is more than a one-day event – it’s a testament to the impact young people can have when they serve with compassion,” said Pastor Caines. “We believe that through initiatives like these, our youth can demonstrate love in action and truly transform our community. It’s inspiring to see young people unite to make a tangible difference in the lives of our seniors, families, and neighbors in need.”
Pastor Caines noted that such outreach not only benefits those receiving help but also enriches the faith and character of the youth who serve. The Bermuda Conference Youth Department invites the public to support Global Youth Day 2025 and its mission of a transformed community.
Members of the public can get involved by donating food items, hygiene products, or funds to assist with the outreach. Those wishing to contribute or learn more can contact the organizers via email at bdaglobalyouthday@gmail.com. Media organizations are welcome to attend the March 15 events or reach out to the Youth Department for more information and coverage opportunities. By partnering together – youth, community, and media – Bermuda can help make Global Youth Day 2025 a beacon of positive change and demonstrate the power of youth in service.
