Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (“BELCO”) today highlighted a recent lunch held to celebratethe retirees of the Company.
Held on April 17th, BELCO hosted a special luncheon honouring over 40 retirees, celebrating their invaluable contributions to Bermuda’s electrical infrastructure. BELCO President Wayne Caines and the leadership team warmly welcomed the retirees, serving them lunchand facilitating engaging conversations with current staff. The event featured games and provided an opportunity for former colleagues to reconnect, reflecting on the decades of expertise that helped shape the company’s legacy.
BELCO President, Wayne Caines expressed deep appreciation for the retirees stating: “Our retirees’ lunch was truly an inspiration for me and all the BELCO staff in attendance. It was fascinating to hear their stories and the history of BELCO going back many decades. We had much to learn from them including the values of teamwork, customer service, technical knowledge, and their understanding of Bermuda’s evolving energy needs. At BELCO, we are committed to our community in many ways and celebrating our retirees is one way to give back and celebrate the proud Bermudians who helped build our country into the prosperous island we enjoy today. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants and are grateful and thank them for their service.”
Looking ahead, BELCO plans to make the retirees’ luncheon an annual tradition. Additionally, the Company is developing a digital archive to preserve its rich history and honour the contributions of its long-serving employees.
