B.D.A. Wraps Up Successful Summer Dance Intensive with Special Guest Instructor Mikayla Wilson

Bermuda Dance Academy is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its annual Summer Dance Intensive, which took place over four weeks in July, with a special highlight being the two-week teaching stint by local professional dancer Mikayla Wilson.

Mikayla Wilson, fresh off her first contract as a professional dancer with Princess Cruise Line, brought her expertise and passion for dance to the students at the Bermuda Dance Academy’s Summer Dance Intensive. Her dedication to pushing the students technically and providing personal feedback has been a source of inspiration for all participants.

The Summer Dance Intensive featured a talented team of instructors including Owner and Head Teacher Nikia Manders, Andrea Markus from New York City, Mikayla Wilson, and local teachers Makaylie Smith, Imani Edwards, Khyra Butterfield, Ani Douglas as well as assistants Paige Pringle and Unzae Swan. Students had the opportunity to explore various dance styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip hop, West
African, and cheer under the guidance of these experienced professionals. The school aspires to create a no fun, positive, and nurturing environment for all ages. We believe the Arts enrich, inspire, and transform lives.

Notably, the international performance team dancers at Bermuda Dance Academy received scholarships to attend the final week of the intensive, thanks to the generous support of the Bermuda Foundation and Blue Rock Construction.

The hard work and dedication of the students throughout the intensive culminated in a special
showcase on Friday, July 26th, 2024 at 1 pm, at The Berkeley Institute where the performance team dancers will present the choreography they had learned during the program. The dancers rehearsed diligently, honing their skills and preparing for an exciting upcoming season.
Mikayla Wilson, who has recently been traveling in South East Asia and Japan as part of her professional dance career, expressed her enthusiasm for returning to Bermuda Dance Academy and sharing her adventures and love of dance with the talented students at the Summer Intensive.

Bermuda Dance Academy looks forward to building on the success of this year’s program and continuing to inspire the next generation of dancers through quality training and mentorship.
