BREAKING NEWS: TNN understands there to be a major power outage affecting at least half of the Island, with the western parishes, including parts of Paget, along with much of Warwick and all of Southampton and Sandy’s with over ten thousands (10,000) customers affected.
Unconfirmed reports have BELCO having gone into crisis mode as the utility attempts to rectify the problem.
It Is also understood that BELCO boss Wayne Caines is overseeing what the company hopes will be a rapid fix.
It is not the first major outage unrelated to weather this year, with an earlier blackout having been caused by what was believed to have been an explosion at the plant involving one of the generators.
The new generators have not quite met expectations since being brought online and the transition certainly cannot be described as having been seamless.
