American man stranded after facing DUI charges in Magistrate Court

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court, a 43-year-old foreign national appeared facing two charges related to drink-driving.

Asa Turner is accused of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, impairing his ability to operate the vehicle.

In addition, Turner faces a second charge for driving the same vehicle after consuming so much alcohol that it exceeded the legal breath alcohol limit.

Turner pled not guilty to both charges. Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson, set his bail at $2,000 with a like surety. As part of his bail conditions, Turner is required to surrender his travel documents to the court.

It was stated that Turner traveled to Bermuda via Cruise Liner over the weekend and the ship departed leaving the American man stranded in Bermuda.

Turner’s trial has been scheduled for August 26, 2024.
