American Airline Flight From Miami to Bermuda Experienced Full Instrument Failure

American Airlines Flight 308 from Miami to Bermuda experienced a full instrumentation failure last night, leading to an emergency landing.

The aircraft, a 26 year old Airbus A319-112 registered N721UW, was approximately 35 minutes away from the island when the failure occurred.

The flight crew calmly declared an emergency to New York Air Traffic Control Center and explained that the captains side of the aircraft had lost all instruments and that the autopilot had disconnected.

New York ATC guided the aircraft manually towards the island, where emergency crews were standing by.

The crew manually flew the approach on backup instruments and made a safe landing onto Bermuda’s runway 12. The Bermuda Flyer understands that the causeway was closed while the aircraft made its approach.

The airline is flying in a recovery aircraft from Charlotte this morning to operate the return flight to Miami today.
