Impaired Driving Bladed Article and Stolen Motorcycle on Police Radar

Around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, police responded to a report of two males involved in a dispute outside of Front Yard, Front Street, City of Hamilton.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male holding a large knife outside the establishment.

The knife was secured and seized. The 61-year-old suspect was arrested for knife possession. He will soon be appearing before the courts.

Acting Detective Superintendent Derricka Burns of the Serious Crime Unit, again warned against the carrying of such items in public places. “Once again, thanks to the assistance members of the public a potentially tragic situation has been averted. Your vigilance and willingness to get involved continue to prove invaluable to our efforts to effectively police our community.”

“Individuals who go armed in public pose a threat to not only other members of the public, but also themselves, as they face having the weapon taken away and used against them by their intended target, or by being targeted for retaliation. If you feel threatened, do not arm yourself, report your concern to someone in authority.”

•SUSPECTED IMPAIRED DRIVING

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, Police Officers on patrol along The Lane, Pembroke, observed a motorcycle fail to obey a stop sign at the junction of Stowe Hill.

Police signalled for the female rider to stop, but she failed to comply and continued traveling toward the City of Hamilton via Crow Lane.

Despite repeated instructions to stop, she failed to do so, disobeying multiple traffic signs and signals, including red lights and rode the wrong way on a one-way street.

She managed to temporarily elude officers, but was subsequently located. A foot chase ensued. However, the rider was quickly apprehended and arrested for dangerous driving.

The 19 year old showed signs of impairment. Tests showed she was over the legal blood alcohol limit.

A file on this matter has been prepared and forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecutions for charge approval.

•STOLEN BIKE RECOVERED

Around 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday July 23, 2025, police on mobile patrol on Richmond Road in the City of Hamilton, had cause to stop a motorcycle being ridden near the 24-Hour Esso Gas Station, by a 17-yer-old-female.

Checks revealed the bike had previously been reported stolen.

The rider, a 17-year-old female, was arrested and charged with bike theft, as well as driving while disqualified by reason of age.
