Three men appeared in Magistrates court today, facing charges related to importation of FN Herstal Five-Seven MK2p and a Ruger EC9 firearms, seventeen (17) rounds of 5.7 x 28 mm and seven (7) rounds of 9mm ammunition, also drug possession, importation, and conspiracy of a controlled drug namely, Cannabis
The accused men, Jonah Smith 27 from Southampton, and Taijuan Davis 29, and Malachi Paynter 19, both from Sandys Parish, were not required to enter a plea to the indictable offenses during their court appearance today.
The arrests follow the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and drugs after Customs officers discovered the contraband in a hidden compartment, when the items landed via ship on Bermudas shores earlier this week.
TNN News understands the items were picked up by a truck and delivered to a Southampton home on Monday, this information was shared in Court today by lead prosecutor Carrington Mahoney. News of this seizure was first reported by TNN News on Tuesday.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos remanded all three men into custody and are set to return to the Supreme Court on November 1st for the monthly arraignment session.
Charles Richardson represented Davis and Marc Daniels for Smith, Paynter was unrepresented.
