9 Year Old Boy Injured In Road Traffic Collision

A nine-year-old boy has been transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment after he was rendered unresponsive following a road traffic collision on Front Street, in the City of Hamilton.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022, near the junction with Burnaby Street.

It is understood the boy was the pillion passenger on a motorcycle which was exiting the number two car park after traffic had stopped to allow them out.

Reports are that as the bike on which the boy was travelling turned east on Front Street, it was struck by another bike overtaking a line of traffic, headed west on Front Street.

The nine-year-old who was unresponsive for a short period following the crash, was attended to at the scene by EMTs and subsequently transported to hospital via ambulance.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Neither rider was hurt.

There was a minor disruption to traffic flow in the area while the scene was forensically processed.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance with their investigation into this matter and anyone with information is asked to call 211 or, the main police number, 295-0011.
