81-Year-Old Man Identified As Forth Road Traffic Fatality Victim Of 2021

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 81-year-old Leon Thomas and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. Thomas – believed to be a Southampton resident – was seriously injured when he attempted to walk across South Road in Southampton near the junction with Lighthouse Road and was struck by a motorcycle being ridden west along South Road around 5:47pm Tuesday, 4th May.

Despite lifesaving efforts at the crash site and being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly Mr. Thomas was later pronounced dead.

The motorcyclist involved, said to be a 19-year-old Paget man, apparently sustained injuries to his leg and back and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. He was also arrested and later bailed in connection with this fatal collision.

An investigation regarding the circumstances of the fourth road fatality of the year continues.

Any witnesses that have not already come forward are now asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 as soon as possible.
