Somersfield Academy is proud to announce that David Lunn, a dedicated alumnus and PE Teacher at the school, will be hosting a 5K Fun Run and Walk to raise funds for the Somersfield Academy Bursary Fund. The event is scheduled for September 29, 2024, and invites students, parents, alumni, and community members to join in this exciting and meaningful cause.
David Lunn, who has been a part of the Somersfield family both as a student and now as a faculty member, is deeply committed to giving back to the school that helped shape his future. “Somersfield Academy has been a significant part of my life, and I’m happy to have the opportunity to contribute to the Bursary Fund. This fund is crucial in ensuring that deserving students have access to the quality education that Somersfield offers, regardless of their financial situation,” Lunn said.
The 5K Fun Run and Walk will take place around Somersfield Academy grounds, offering participants a scenic route that encourages both fitness and community spirit. The event is designed to be family-friendly, welcoming runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Somersfield Academy Bursary Fund, which provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate academic potential and a commitment to the values of the school but may not have the financial means to attend.
“David’s initiative is a wonderful example of the values we instill in our students—leadership, compassion, and community service,” said Riki Teteina, Head of School at Somersfield Academy. “We are incredibly proud of David’s efforts and look forward to a successful event that will have a lasting impact on our students and their futures.”
Registration for the 5K Fun Run and Walk is now open. Participants can sign up online at www.racedayworld.com by September 28. Whether you’re an avid runner or simply want to support a good cause, this event is an excellent way to come together as a community and make a difference.
