4,200 BELCO customers without power cause Hurricane Lee

“Bermuda has been experiencing tropical storm force winds in excess of 55 mph as Hurricane Lee passes to the west of the island.

The gusty winds are causing outages, many of which are due to foliage and debris hitting wires which causes the wires to come into contact and trip circuits.

While it is safe to do so, BELCO crews will continue to fix outages as they occur as quickly and safely as possible. As of 6:00pm today there were approximately 4,200 customers without power.

For more information and updates on outages the public can visit BELCO’s website and social media pages.”
