A number of Canadian and Bermudian nationals were this morning jointly charged with drug importation and possession when they appeared in Magistrate’s Court.
Bermudians, 55 year old Gavin O’Connor, 33 year old Taureem O’Connor of Hamilton Parish, along with 45 year old Chrystal Cassidy from Warwick and 58 year old Scott Brown from Southampton were all charged with conspiring to import cannabis into Bermuda between a date unknown and April 19th 2023. They were also charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
Scott Brown was charged with concealing or disgusing money said to be criminal property between April 19th and May 1st 2023.
Canadians Akeem Williams, 23, Mickel Agustus, 29, Taylor Pitz, 25, and Melissa Shields, 23, were also charged with conspiracy to import and possession with intent to supply in elation to the same matter.
None of the Canadian nationals appeared in court this morning.
None of the accused were called upon to enter a plea as these charges must be dealt with in the Supreme Court.
Magistrate, the Worshipful Maria Sofianos granted each of the accused the accused bail in the amount of $20,000 with a like surety and adjourned the matter to the December 2nd arraignments.
As Part of their bail conditions Gavin and Taureem O’Connor as well as Scott Brown, must report to the Hamilton Police Station on a weekly basis.
Chrystal Cassidy is required to also report to the Hamilton Police Station on a weekly basis as of November 27th.
