36-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Exploitation

A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for committing serious crimes against a young person. The offenses, which date back to 2016, involved a gross violation of trust.

At the time of the crime, the man was 23 years old and held a position of trust, which he exploited to harm the victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Jahzeel Quallo of Sandys Parish on November 4th, was sentenced to 30 months at Westgate Correctional Facility for Sexual Exploitation of a young person.

On a date unknown in 2016, being a person in a position of trust or authority towards a young person, for a sexual purpose, touched with a part of your body, namely your mouth and penis, part of her body, namely her vagina.

The Complainant in this case is a woman who TNN chooses not to identify, she is the biological mother to the 16 year old victim.

The Suspect in this matter is Jahzeel Quallo, he is the cousin to the victim’s father and resides in the same family apartment complex as the victim’s father.

At the time of the incident, he was 23 years of age and in the process of separating from his wife, which lead to a divorce.

The circumstances in this case are as follows.

Thursday 21st July 2022, the victim arrived home from school and as a result of discussions in health class, decided to discuss a serious matter with her mother, the complainant.

The victim disclosed to her mother that 6 years prior, in the summertime, she was at her father’s family’s house in, Sandy’s. She was approached by the suspect who where he sexually assaulted her by pulling down her pants and underwear. He then licked her vagina with his tongue and mouth for several minutes.

He told her not to tell anyone about what happened as it’s their secret. She went into the house and watched television with other family members.

As a result of this conversation, a report was made to police and an investigation started with video interviews being conducted with the complainant and victim with the assistance of a social worker.

picture exhibits were taken of the storage room and the suspect’s residence.

At 1PM, Friday 17th February 2023, the suspect attended Hamilton Police Station, and was informed of this investigation. He was arrested for Suspicion of Sexual Exploitation of a Young Person, and made no reply to caution. He was escorted to the Custody Area, processed and detained. As a result of a logistical problem, a caution interview with the defendant was unable to take place resulting in the defendant being bailed and released to a different date.

Between 11:43AM and 11:54AM, Monday 20th February 2023, in the presence of his lawyer, the defendant Quallo was video interviewed under caution regarding his arrest. He replied No Comment to the question put to him and on the conclusion, all relevant documentation was signed and the defendant was returned to the custody area, bailed and released.

At 6PM, Monday 22nd May 2023, the defendant answered bail at HPS and was charged. When cautioned, he made no reply. He was then bailed and released to attend Hamilton Magistrates Court.

Quallo pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, upon his release his name will be placed on the sex offenders list.
