Fairmont Southampton Launches Recruitment Drive Seeking 500 Hospitality Workers

The Fairmont Southampton is ramping up its recruitment efforts, with a digital application exercise held today at Bermuda College to assist job seekers interested in joining the resort’s hospitality team.

Speaking with TNN News, Director of Talent Acquisition Fairmont Southampton Sarai Belboda said the initiative was organized in partnership with Workforce Development to help people who may not have access to a computer or who require assistance completing the online application process.

“We’re having a digital support application day for those that haven’t applied online and need assistance with applying online, or they may not have access to laptops, computers, etc.,” Belboda explained.

She said the resort is currently looking to fill approximately 500 positions across the range of jobs advertised through Bermuda Job Connect.

The recruitment drive attracted approximately 40 applicants at Bermuda College today, with the application support continuing until 7 p.m. today and again tomorrow morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Belboda said the resort is seeking workers across virtually every area of hospitality.

Those positions include room attendants, laundry attendants, waiters, maître d’s, front-of-house and back-of-house staff, culinary workers, middle management, security, maintenance, recreation, beach and pool attendants, and spa positions.

The recruitment effort is also targeting young people and first-time job seekers.

Belboda said the Fairmont Southampton has apprenticeship opportunities, as well as entry-level positions where applicants can receive training on the job.

Among those positions are room attendants, beach attendants and laundry attendants.

“You just need a good attitude, some skills, and willing to learn,” Belboda said, explaining that successful applicants can be trained and potentially move into other areas of the resort based on their interests and abilities.

Applicants are being asked to bring a current CV or résumé, either electronically or in hard copy. Belboda said staff can scan résumés for applicants who need assistance.

Applicants should also have access to an email address, as they will need to complete an assessment following their application.

The Fairmont Southampton is encouraging anyone interested in employment opportunities to take advantage of the application assistance being offered at Bermuda College.

The digital application support continues today until 7 p.m. and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

With approximately 500 positions available, the recruitment exercise represents a significant opportunity for Bermudians and other eligible job seekers seeking employment in the hospitality sector.
