25th Lindo’s to Lindo’s Raises More than $25k for Bermuda Diabetes Association

The 25th annual fundraiser, the Lindo’s to Lindo’s, raised $26,103 for the Bermuda Diabetes Association (BDA) with its March event.

The competitive 10k run, 4-mile competitive walk and 4-mile fun run/walk saw hundreds of participants starting Lindo’s Family Foods in Warwick and ending at Lindo’s Market Devonshire. It has been held every year since 1999 and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Bermuda Diabetes Association.

On hand for the donation (left to right) were Sara Bosch de Noya (Diabetes Educator at BDA), Chris Jones (President of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club), Lori Rockhead (Executive Director of BDA) and Zach Moniz (Manager at Lindo’s).

Zach Moniz, Manager at Lindo’s, said: ‘We are delighted to have raised $26,000 this year for the Bermuda Diabetes Association who do such important work for the health of Bermudians. We look forward to the next 25 years!’

Lori Rockhead, Executive Director of the Bermuda Diabetes Association, said: ‘On behalf of the Bermuda Diabetes Association, I am thrilled to express our heartfelt gratitude to Lindo’s and MAAC for their unwavering support of our mission. The funds raised from the Lindo’s to Lindo’s race and charity walk will significantly impact our efforts to prevent diabetes and support people living with diabetes in Bermuda.

‘With these funds, we plan to expand our screening programs, focusing not only on diabetes prevention but also on preventing diabetes complications. Free screenings provide prevention and early detection which improve health outcomes.  Providing the screenings for free is one of the ways in which the Bermuda Diabetes Association contributes to equitable access to healthcare for everyone.”

The Lindo’s to Lindo’s road event is organised by the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club and sanctioned by Bermuda National Athletics Association. The event is further supported by Argus, BGA, Bermuda Import & Export Co, Butterfield & Vallis and Europa Imports.
