2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Second Round Tee Shots

 The second round of the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship was completed this morning at Port Royal Golf Course, Southampton. The field was cut to 81 players at -5 before starting the third round, which teed off at 7:50 am. They are playing for a $6.5 million purse and the champion will receive $1.17 million and 500 FedExCup points.

Fans who attend the Butterfield Bermuda Championship have free access to several great spectator areas.

   The Seal Club – located on the 15th hole by the fort

   The Coca Cola Fan Oasis – located between the 14th and 18th holes

   The Family Zone presented by Butterfield & Mastercard – located between the 16th and 17th holes.

Flying High

Bermuda Air will have a flyover at 1:00 p.m. local time Saturday, depending on the weather. It will take place over the water near the 15th and 16th holes at approximately 500’ above sea level for a great visual.

Leaders in the Clubhouse

Alex Noren is the second-round leader by two strokes after setting a new tournament record for low 36-hole score with a -15, 61-66=127. Noren, who tied the course record of 61 in his opening round

Ryan MooreSatoshi Kodaira and Ryan Brehm are tied for second at -13, 129. Camilo Villegas is in 5th place after shooting 67-63=130.

Six players are tied at -11, including Inaugural Champion Brendon Todd.

Cut It Out

The cut was made at -5, with 81 players still competing for the trophy this weekend. That is the highest number of players to make the cut. The previous high was 75 in 2021.

Sticking Around

2020 Champion Brian Gay,-7, T43, and Russell Knox, -8, T28, are the only two players to have made the cut in all five years at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Gay has now posted a score under-par in 16 of his 18 rounds, including 13 straight.

Former Champs in the Field

Inaugural Champion Brendon Todd is T6 at -11 (65-66=131) while 2021 Champion Lucas Herbert is T60 at -5 (66-71=137). 2020 winner Brian Gay is T43 at -7 (67-68=135).

Support Local

Michael Sims is the low Bermudian in the field after finishing at +1 with a 73-70=143. Oliver Betschart, playing with Sims for the first and second rounds, finished at +6 with a 73-75=148. Fellow Bermudians Scott Roy (+11, 77-76=153) and Eric West (+15, 77-80=157) competed as well. None made the cut, which was at -5.
