19,000 BELCO customers without power as Hurricane Melissa moves away from Bermuda

As Hurricane Melissa moves away from Bermuda, recovery efforts are now underway. BELCO has reported that approximately 19,000 customers remain without power as crews work to restore service across the island. Here’s the latest information.

• Branch blocking westbound lane, South Road west of Paget stop lights
• Paget traffic lights out

• Wires down South Road near Dolphin Ridge and near Church Road
• Low-hanging wires on South Road near Talbot Lane (Hamilton Parish)
• Debris in road outside Warwick Workman’s Club
• Debris near #62 Harrington Sound Road
• Debris west of Stowe Hill
• Tree down on Middle Road between High Point Lane and Alton Hill (one lane blocked)
• Branches blocking westbound lane, Middle Road Smith’s near Aldie Drive

• Pole fire reported, Cut Road St George’s near Narrow Lane
• Trees blocking westbound lane, St David’s Road near Bay Estates
• Wires down Crawl Hill area near Crawl Point Lane West / My Lord’s Bay
• Power pole fire, Old Military Road and Grenadier Lane
