Around 3:15pm on Friday July 29th, 2022, police conducting Operation Vega exercises in the west end, attempted to stop a 19-year-old man for speeding. The man ignored officers signals to stop and attempted to evade police.
The male eventually abandoned his motorcycle in the Ely’s Harbour, Sandys area, before jumping into the water in an attempt to escape police. Bermuda Coast Guard officers attended the area and quickly apprehended the man without further incident.
The 19-year old was arrested and detained for suspicion of being in possession of a controlled drug, as well as several warrants.
