Appearing in Magistrates’ Court today, an 18-year-old Southampton man faced multiple indictable offences related to firearm and ammunition possession charges in Bermuda.
The charges against Ade Hart are as follows:
On the 24th day of August 2024, in the Islands of Bermuda, he allegedly had in his possession ammunition without holding a valid license for that purpose.
On the same day, in the Islands of Bermuda, he allegedly had in his possession a prohibited weapon, namely, a firearm with a barrel less than 24 inches in length.
On the 23rd of August 2024, in the Islands of Bermuda, Hart, being concerned with others not before the court, took a Yamaha Mio motorcycle without the owner’s consent or other lawful authority. Knowing the motorcycle was taken without such authority, he either drove it or allowed himself to be carried on it.
On the 24th of August 2024, in the Islands of Bermuda, Hart allegedly made use of a firearm with the intent to resist or prevent his lawful arrest and that of another.
On the 24th of August 2024, in the Islands of Bermuda, with intent to resist or prevent his lawful arrest or detention, Hart is accused of unlawfully shooting at police officers with a loaded firearm.
Hart was not required to enter a plea during this initial hearing. Magistrate Maria Sofianos remanded him in custody. Hart is scheduled to reappear in Supreme court during the October monthly arraignment session.
