Sandys area residents have raised serious concerns as to the Government’s apparent disregard toward the current state of the Nine Beaches property at Daniel’s Head, which has been allowed to descend into an embarrassing, dilapidated state.
The one pristine property now greatly resembles a veritable dumping ground for refuse, along with overgrown foliage and disfunctional / no toilet facilities, while direlict bungalows resemble items more befitting wild animals and pests than creatures of the civilised variety.
What had previously been a venue of attraction to west enders and tourists seeking to enjoy fun-loving moments at the beach has now become a repulsive eyesore and place of danger, particularly to children hopeful of a fun experience.
Just last year Fire and Rescue was called to tend to a fire at the former resort, after one of the ‘residences’, which had been the choice location for squatters seeking shelter from the elements.
Little came of the investigation into the cause of the blaze, however the wood and canvass structures have been allowed to deteriorate at the whim of the elements, with Government ignoring most manner of upkeep.
Inquiries as to what Government intends to do with the property have failed to yield a cohesive response, as the property continues to fall into a further state of disrepair. West end residents are extremely concern that they would have to return home or go in the trees to relieve themselves which is totally unacceptable.
TNN News awaits a response from the Government of Bermuda or WEDCO on the state of this property.
