Man Pleads Guilty To Assault, Threatening and Depriving a Woman of her Liberty in Magistrate Court

A woman who felt like she was going to die while being assaulted by her boyfriend a court heard today.

41 year old Jamaican National, Damion Williams from #44 Angle Street Pembroke, pleaded guilty to assaulting Destiny Taylor, and depriving her of her liberty also threatening her.

Prosecutor Javone Rogers told Magistrates’ Court that on Monday, November 14th, Williams choked Ms Taylor and made her to fall to the floor. Causing her to suffered a large bump to her forehead as a result of the fall.

Ms. Destinee Taylor was able to escape from the apartment make her way to the Hamilton Police Station after the incident and was later examined at the hospital.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to December 28 for sentencing and ordered that court services conduct a social inquiry report for Williams.

He was released on $5,000 bail and ordered to not make contact with the complainant or attend her residence.
