The 11th annual BUEI Christmas Market was held today, offering a festive celebration of local talent and entrepreneurship. The event, hosted at the BUEI, showcased over 50 vendors, each presenting a unique array of products ranging from candles and cookies to jewelry and handmade crafts a spokesperson for BUEI said…
Wendy Wilson, the operations manager at BUEI and one of the original organizers, expressed her excitement about the market’s growth over the years. “This local vendor’s market started in 2013 with about 30 vendors, and it’s grown to over 50,” Wilson said. “We’re proud to see returning vendors year after year and to provide a platform for their creativity.”
The idea for the market, she explained, came from a collective vision among BUEI’s team and former leadership. “Some people just have a talent for making their own products, and that’s how it all began,” Wilson shared. Initially dominated by jewelers, the market has since expanded to include a wide variety of handmade goods, reflecting the diverse skills of local entrepreneurs.
This year, the market spanned all three levels of BUEI’s large facility, including the lower level, main lobby, and upstairs meeting rooms. To add to the festive atmosphere, Christmas-themed cartoon films were shown in the auditorium, providing entertainment for families and children.
The Christmas Market has become a twice-yearly event since the COVID-19 pandemic, offering additional opportunities for local vendors to connect with the community. “It’s been very well-received,” Wilson noted. “We’ll decide next year if we’ll continue with two markets, but so far, it’s been a great success.”
Wilson concluded with a heartfelt message for the holiday season: “Let’s continue to support our local vendors. Let’s buy Bermuda. And happy holidays to everyone!”
The BUEI Christmas Market continues to be a cherished holiday tradition, celebrating community, creativity, and the spirit of the season.
